It is with genuine disappointment that we announce that the 13th World Environmental Education Congress 2026 (13th WEEC), scheduled for September 2026 in Perth, has been cancelled by the Local Organising Committee.

This decision was not made lightly. A combination of ongoing international uncertainty and significantly increased global travel and fuel costs has created a challenging environment for hosting large-scale international gatherings.

Despite strong interest, registration numbers have not reached the threshold required to deliver the event to the standard expected, or in a way that is financially sustainable for the organisers. In this context, the Local Organising Committee has determined that cancellation is the most responsible course of action for all involved.

All registered delegates will receive a full refund of their registration fees. Delegates will be contacted by the Congress Organisers with details of the refund process.

For those who were scheduled to present at the Congress, we recognise the time and effort you have already invested in preparing your contributions. We encourage you to connect with AAEE (admin@aaee.org.au) to explore alternative professional learning and presentation opportunities.

We recognise that some attendees may have already arranged travel and accommodation. Where possible, we recommend contacting your airline and accommodation providers directly to explore refund, credit or change options. We have provided a formal letter of cancellation below that can be printed out if needed.

We understand this news will be disappointing, and we share in that sentiment. Thank you for your interest in and support of the 13th WEEC, and for your understanding.
