Recognition of Noongar language
The Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation are the traditional owners and custodians of Whadjuk Boodja (Country), and includes the Perth region. Whadjuk is the name of the Noongar dialectal group from the Perth area. Whadjuk is situated south of Yued and north of the Pinjarup dialectal groups.
To recognise Noongar language, the Local Organising Committee has worked with the Noongar Boodjar Language Cultural Aboriginal Corporation to provide the translation for the WEEC title and themes. We also acknowledge the many dialectal groups within the Noongar language and we respect the diverse spellings, pronunciations, phonetics, and other variations across these dialects.
